Course Description:
In this class we will attempt an examination of key texts in 20th century analytic philosophy. We will explore issues such as the extent of human knowledge, the reference and use of names, conceptions of meaning and truth, and the role of linguistic analysis in philosophy. The course will begin with Frege and Russell, move through Wittgenstein, some of the Logical Positivists and ordinary language philosophers, and end-hopefully-with Kripke.
